As a relatively young company, Sharp Communications has a highly experienced Management Team, and employs some of the most experienced personnel in our field. The SCL Management Team and some of our engineering staff have had the benefit of working together for over least a decade. This work experience and understanding of the company work ethic, means our Management Team are fully aware of each others strengths and abilities and will not hesitate to call on the wealth of experience available within our organisation.
Managing Director - Michael O’Reilly
Michael has over 20 years experience within the Telecommunications industry and after completing his Telecom Technicians training in 1986, Michael headed overseas to the UK, where he embarked on a very successful career within the Telecommunications market.
During his 13 years in the UK, Michael was employed by Comunica Plc, (formerly Cableship ltd), one of the UK’s top 3 ICT infrastructure companies. Throughout his career there his business acumen and management skills were clearly recognised and Michael was promoted several times through the management ranks to the position of Senior Project Manager. In 1997 and until he departed to return home to New Zealand in 2000, he was employed as Operations Manager for the Major Projects Division.
As a Senior Project Manager he was responsible for the successful implementation of some of the UK’s largest Structured Cabling Infrastructure projects. These projects ranged in value from GBP 500k to GBP 7M and included many of the UK’s Blue Chip clientele, amongst these were the leading Merchant Banks, BZW, Deutsche Bank, UBS Warburg and Lehmann Bros as well as The Daily Mirror, Readers Digest and Reuters.
As Comunica PLC Operations Manager, Michael was required to oversee the day to day business activities of the group including client liaison, logistics activities and the management of the Project Management team. This included providing the board of Directors with monthly financial forecasts on budgets in excess of GBP 30m.
Upon his return to New Zealand Mick was employed as the Operations Manager of National Communication Services Ltd (NCS Ltd) until the formation of Sharp Communications Ltd in June 2002.
Operations Manager - Chris Trehy
Chris is a founding member of Sharp Communications Ltd and has been involved in the Telecommunications industry since 1985.
Chris has also spent a considerable amount of time overseas working in the UK and has gained valuable knowledge in the areas of Operations and Project Management.
His responsibilities within Sharp Communications require him to manage the ‘day to day’ operational activities, including the control of all Labour and Logistics resources and Project budgets. He has exceptional management skills and has created a team of highly skilled installation technicians that give Sharp Communications a reputation in the market place as a company that delivers installations of exceptional quality.
Sharp Communications Ltd has a policy of training and developing personnel from within our organisation, providing career path and creating the opportunity for promotion.
To date we have developed a number of Site Managers, from our technician workforce. These engineers have shown over a period of time that they posses the necessary skills required to work as part of the management team.
Working alongside Senior Management, they are responsible for the installation of small projects and the supervision of engineering staff on site.
All SCL Technicians are employed on a full time basis. Prior to employment at SCL, all technicians undergo an extensive interview, which includes technical assessment. Ongoing training and support ensures that our technical staff are among the best in the industry.
It is Sharp Communications policy to carry out regular staff training to ensure that our staff are fully aware of the latest product sets and their installation techniques. These are required to ensure product compliant installations and warranty requirements are adhered to for all of our installation works.
From our Auckland office the Sharp Communications Ltd team is able to provide its customers with Telecommunications Consulting, Design Engineering and Project Management Services.
Sharp Communications Ltd has vendor certified personnel to provide product solutions from Commscope Systimax®, Belden IBDN, Panduit, Krone, and other specified solutions.
Our people have been responsible for the Design, Project Management and installation of many major structured and conventional building cabling solutions throughout New Zealand, United Kingdom and the Asia-Pac region.
We have qualified drafting staff in our Computer Aided Design (CAD) office operating an AutoCAD 2004 design package which is utilised extensively from design inception through project management to final site documentation.
